Detailed Solution

Salal Damis was built on the Chenab river.
It is also known as the Salal Hydroelectric Power Station and is a run-of-the-river hydropower project on the Chenab River in Jammu and Kashmir's Reasi district. It was India's first hydropower project in Jammu and Kashmir under the Indus Water Treaty system. The Central Hydroelectric Project Control Board began construction in 1970. The plant's design contained a two-stage powerhouse capable of producing 690 MW of power using the dam's head. After signing a bilateral agreement with Pakistan in 1978, India finished the project in 1987, with considerable concessions given to Pakistan in constructing the dam, including lowering its height, removing the operational reservoir, and blocking the under-sluices designed for sediment control.
