Detailed Solution

Santhals, Oraons, and Gonds were recruited by the British to work in Tea plantations. The British considered Indian cultivators as slaves. They forced many of the cultivators to work in factories and plantations. And the people in Assam, both men, and women belonging to the community, like Santhals and Oraons (from Jharkhand) and Gonds (from Chhattisgarh), were recruited on tea plantations. They were given low wages, and the working conditions were very bad. They were not able to return home easily from the workplace.
