Detailed Solution

The Satavahana rulers were known as the lords of Dakshinapatha. In the early years of the 1st century CE, the Satavahana dynasty rose to prominence in western India. Gautamiputra Shri Satakarni was one of Satavahana's most significant kings. His mother, Gautami Balashri, wrote inscriptions that provided information about him. He and subsequent Satavahana emperors were referred to as the "lords of Dakshinapatha," which is Sanskrit for "the way going to the south" but was also used to refer to the entire southern area. Since the Satavahanas ruled over the Deccan and some parts of south India, they were referred to by that name.
