Saturated hydrocarbons generally give a [[1]] flame while unsaturated carbon compounds will give a [[1]] flame.

 

Saturated hydrocarbons upon burning in presence of oxygen produce a clean flame whereas unsaturated hydrocarbons give a yellow flame along with black smoke which gets deposit on surfaces in the form of soot.
