The Satyagraha for the Kheda district was organised because the peasants of the Kheda district could not pay the revenue demanded by the colonial government because of crop failure and the plague epidemic. This Kheda satyagraha was organised in 1918. It was the third Satyagraha after the successful conduct of the Champaran Satyagraha. It started with the anger of the Kheda peasants towards the colonial government because they were not ready to reduce the revenues imposed on the peasants even though they requested to lower them because of crop failure and the plague epidemic.
