Satyagraha means fasting.
Satyagraha is a novel method of mass agitation in which a person protests against any particular regulation or demand. It included methods like fasting and peaceful demonstrations. It was a policy of passive political resistance and struggles against injustice. Satyagraha was a type of protest which was for truth and non-violence. Gandhiji first started it while he was in Africa. The Champaran Satyagraha was the first Satyagraha of Gandhiji in the Bihar state of India. It was against the Tinkathia system imposed by Britishers to cultivate Indigo dye. Many Indians joined the protest with Gandhi in this Satyagraha.
