Detailed Solution

Satyagrah means fasting. In this, a person protests against any particular regulation or demands justification. It was a policy of passive political resistance. Satyagraha was a protest against violence. Gandhi's satyagraha became a significant device in the Indian battle against the British government. Gandhiji in Africa first started it. Champaran satyagraha was the first satyagraha of Gandhiji in Bihar state of India, which was done against the Tinkathia system, imposed by Britishers to cultivate Indigo (dye). In this satyagraha, many Indians joined the protest with Gandhi.
