The scapula is located between the second and seventh ribs (vertebro-sternal ribs) on the posterior side of the thorax. It lies over the upper and middle parts of the ribcage and is positioned on the back of the thoracic cavity. The scapula is located on each side of the body, and together with the clavicles (collarbones), it forms the shoulder joint, allowing for a wide range of arm movements.
