Secondary succession takes place on/in

 Secondary succession is a process that starts in areas that somehow, lost all the living organisms that existed there such as in abandoned farmlands, burned or cut forests, lands that have been flooded or degraded forest. Since some soil or sediment is present, succession is faster than primary succession.
Primary succession is a process that starts in an area where no living organisms are there. Primary succession occurs are newly cooled lava, bare rock, newly created pond or reservoir.
