Saying India is a secular country means being neutral and not giving any special status to any religion. Since historical times, India has been a diverse country. People of different religions, castes, languages, cultures, ethnicity, etc., live together on this land. Thus, communalism has been a major threat and challenge to maintaining the essence of democracy. The Indian state was made secular to save it from any communal conflicts in the country. The constitution committee chose the following provisions to make India a secular country:
1)      The Indian state has no official religion.
2)      The Indian Constitution doesn’t give any special status to any religion.
3)      The constitution guarantees its citizens the right to live according to their religious beliefs.
4)      Our constitution condemns any discrimination based on faith.
