Transpiration is the process through which water from the plant gets evaporated into the atmosphere through the aerial plant parts. The evaporation takes place through the stomata. The transpiration process occurs in the leaves. Due to the positive transpirational pull, the xylem cells present in the plants help in the transport of water from the root to the leaves.  Once the water reaches the leaves, it gets evaporated from the tiny pores on the leaves called stomata.  Some of the major functions of transpiration include cooling down the plant, which occurs due to evaporation and also the transport of water and minerals that occurs through the xylem.
