Detailed Solution

‘O’ blood can be donated to persons with any other blood group and hence ‘O’ group individuals are called ‘universal donors’. No antigens (neither A nor B nor Rh antigen) are present on RBCs in people with blood group O- and hence the donated RBC cannot be clumped by recipient's antibodies. Rh antigens are present on RBCs of persons with blood group O+. Their RBCs can be clumped by anti-Rh antibodies present in the blood plasma of Rh- recipients. Persons with AB+ blood type are universal recipients since their blood plasma lacks anti A, anti B and anti Rh antibodies.
