Human trafficking is the trade of people, most commonly women and children. International conventions have condemned trafficking as a violation of human rights. Trafficked people are held against their will and forced to work for or provide services to the trafficker or others. The work or services may include bonded or forced labour, and commercial sexual exploitation. The arrangement is generally structured as a work contract with no or low payment. Sometimes it is structured as debt bondage, with the victim not being permitted or able to pay off the debt.
