Sex-linked recessive traits are typically transmitted from a carrier female to half of her sons. A carrier female has normal allele on one of her X chromosomes and the mutant allele on the other X chromosome. All the sons inherit X chromosome from mother. Half of the sons inherit the mutant allele and the other half inherit the normal allele.
