Detailed Solution

Given, that 16 dozen ball pens are bought, and sold at loss same as selling price(SP) of 8 ball peens.
Loss percentage is,
loss%= loss CP (100)
Number of pens bought =16 12
192
Let the SP of one pen be Rs.x.
Therefore, SP of 192 pens =192x
SP of 8 pens =8x
It is given that SP of 8 pens are equal to the loss on selling 192 pens.
So,
loss=CPSP 8x=576192x 200x=576 x=2.88   Therefore,
loss=8 2.88 loss=23.04
Now, loss percentage is,
loss%= loss CP (100) 23.04(100) 576 4%
Hence, the loss percent is 4%.
Therefore, option (3) is correct.
