Shalimar Bagh was built by Jahangir
It is considered his dream project, and he enlarged the garden by 1619. He called it “Farah Baksh.” The garden is renowned for arched niches, which were lit up before nightfall to give a special effect to the waterfalls. Other structures commissioned by Jahangir include the Bachcha Taj, Akbar’s Tomb, and the Begum Shahi Mosque. Architecture became complex and sophisticated under the Mughals. They were fascinated with art and architecture and used expensive building materials for construction. Mughal architecture reached its pinnacle during Shah Jahan’s reign and fizzled out after Aurangzeb’s death. Some features of the Mughal architecture are an amalgamation of red sandstone and marble, pietra dura inlays, halls, gardens, and vast courtyards.
