Detailed Solution

Shia Muslims believed in Prophet Muhammad’s son-in-law, Ali. Islam followers were divided into two sections called Shia Muslims and Sunni Muslims. Shia Muslims believed in the teachings of the Prophet's son-in-law who was named Ali. They believed that Ali was the legitimate leader of the Muslim community. The other section called the Sunni Muslims accepted the authority of Khalifas, who were the early leaders of the Muslim community. They believed in the successors of Khalifa. Apart from this reason, there were other important differences between various sections of religion mainly called Hanafi and Shafi in the fields of theology and mystic traditions.
