Detailed Solution

Shifting cultivation is known as Chena in Sri Lanka. This is also the widely used agricultural method in many parts of South America, Africa, and Asia. Agriculture was changed, making it more difficult for the government to compute taxes. Because the government decided to outlaw shifting agriculture, groups of pastoralists and nomads suffered greatly. In addition, the British government designated some of the forests as conserved and maintained them. This restricted the nomads' ability to get wood, fuel, and roots. As a result, they could not gather plants for use in medications. Additionally, they had to stop going hunting and fishing in the nearby forest.
