The Tyndall effect is the name given to the phenomenon of light scattering by particles in a colloid or in a very fine suspension.

The beam is visible because of the way the individual suspension particles scatter and reflect light.

The Tyndall effect can be clearly seen by directing a flashlight beam into a glass of milk. If you want to see how the colloidal particles affect the light beam, you have to use skim milk or dilute the milk with some water.

Hence, Shining a flashlight beam into a glass of milk is an example of the Tyndall effect.
