SHO stands for Station House Officer. An SHO is a police officer or personnel who stays at the police station of a particular area and acts in charge of the activities there. The SHO acts as the controller of a police station. He is the one who files reports or complaints about crimes and other such activities in the form of an FIR or First Information Report. After filing a report, the SHO sends a constable to investigate the issue. He is also equipped with the right to approach courts to provide justice to the victims. The SHO can reach the gram panchayats and the village elders for their help in some of the problems that may arise.
