Sigma factor is a part of holoenzyme of RNA polymerase of prokaryotes which identifies promoter upon associating with core enzyme of RNA polymerase which has two alpha units, one beta unit and one $\mathrm{\beta }$' protein units. Prokaryotes have only one RNA polymerase for the transcription of all RNAs.
