Detailed Solution

60 percent of the world's population lives in only 10 countries. China, India, the United States, Indonesia, Brazil, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nigeria, the Russian Federation, and Japan make up these ten nations. All of them have over 100 million people. The way people are distributed across the surface of the earth is known as the pattern of population distribution. Over 90% of the world's population lives on about 30% of the earth's surface. The world's population distribution is very uneven. Some areas are very crowded, while others are sparsely populated. The busiest areas are South Asia and Southeast Asia, Europe, and northeastern North America. Few people live in areas with high altitudes, tropical deserts, and alpine and equatorial forests. Much more people live in the north than in the south of the equator. Almost three-quarters of the world's population lives on two continents, Asia and Africa.
