Small parties and independent candidates suffer a major disadvantage during elections when compared to bigger parties.

In elections, candidates with criminal connections push other candidates out of the electoral race, to secure a ticket from big parties. Some families with strong political background dominate political parties and tickets are given to their family members. It is very often that elections offer little choice to ordinary citizens.

Sometimes the parties even distribute tickets keeping in mind the number of voters from the particular caste or religion. Most of the times either seats are reserved for SCs or women or maybe a male seat.
