Detailed Solution

Given linear equation,
x+2y=5..1
2x-3y=-4.(2)Put x=0 in equation (1),
0+2y=5
2y=5
y=52
Put y=0 in equation (1),
x+2×0=5
x+0=5
x=5
So, the straight line whose linear equation is x+2y=5 has two passing points as A0,52 and B(5,0).
Substitute x=0 in equation (2), we get
2×0-3y=-4
0-3y=-4
y=-4-3
y=43
Put y=0 in equation (2), we get
2x-3×0=-4
2x-0=-4
x=-42
x=-2
So, the straight line whose linear equation is 2x-3y=-4 have two passing points as C0,43 and D(-2,0).
Equation (1) can be rewritten as
x=5-2y(3)
Put the value of x from equation (3) in equation (2), we have
25-2y-3y=-4
10-4y-3y=-4
10-7y=-4
7y=14
y=2
Put y=2 in equation (3), we get
x=5-(2×2)x=5-4x=1
Now, draw the graph with these points.
Question ImageHere, intersection of lines is (1,2). So, the solution set is (1,2).
Also, when lines meet the axis then the points are,
X-axis = (5, 0), Y-axis= (−2, 0)
Correct option is 1.
