Given equation: x2-(3+1)x+3=0

We will use the completing square method.

Then we will try to balance the left side by adding the number that will make it a perfect square such that the number will be added on both sides of the equation.

(x)2-2×(x)×3+12+3=0

(x)2-2×(x)×3+12+3+122-3+122+3=0

x-3+122+3-3+122=0

x-3+122+3-4+234=0

x-3+122+3-1-32=0

x-3+122=1-32

x-3+122=34+14-32

x-3+122=322-2×12×32+122

x-3+122=32-122

x-3+122=3-122

x-3+12=±3-12

Thus, x=3, 1.
