The equation x3=y2 can be rewritten as:
x3=y2
2x=3y
2x-3y=0.........(1)
The equation 2x3-y2=2 can be written as:
2x3-y2=2
4x-3y6=2
4x-3y=12.........(2)
Subtracting equation (2) from equation (1) to eliminate y, because the coefficients of y are the same. So, we get,
(4x-2x)+(-3y+3y)=12-0
2x=12
x=6
Substituting x=6 in the equation 1, we get,
12-3y=0
3y=12
y=4
