Given equation is,

x + 4 y = 14

It can be written as,

x = 14 - 4 y

…. (1)
Another equation given in the problem is,

7 x - 3 y = 5

……. (2)
Put value of x from equation (1) to the above equation,

\Rightarrow 7 (14 - 4 y) - 3 y = 5

\Rightarrow 98 - 28 y - 3 y = 5

\Rightarrow 98 - 31 y = 5

\Rightarrow 93 = 31 y

\Rightarrow y = \frac{93}{31}

\Rightarrow y = 3

Now put this value in equation (2), we get,

\Rightarrow 7 x - 3 (3) = 5

\Rightarrow 7 x - 3 (3) = 5

\Rightarrow x = 14

\Rightarrow x = \frac{14}{7} = 2

Therefore, the required solution is,

x = 2

and

y = 3
