Solving by cross multiplication method x+y=7 and 2x-3y=11, the value of y is _______ 

Given equations are, 

x+y=7 ……..(i) and 2x-3y=11……(ii) 

Solving (i) and (ii) by cross multiplication method we get, 

$\frac{x}{11+21}=\frac{y}{14-11}=\frac{-1}{-3-2}$ 

$or, \frac{x}{32}=\frac{y}{3}=\frac{1}{5}$ 

From the last two ratios, 

$\frac{y}{3}=\frac{1}{5}$ $or, y=\frac{3}{5}$
