x+y=7 ……..(i) and 2x-3y=11……(ii)

Solving (i) and (ii) by cross multiplication method we get,

$\frac{x}{11 + 21} = \frac{y}{14 - 11} = \frac{- 1}{- 3 - 2}$

$o r, \frac{x}{32} = \frac{y}{3} = \frac{1}{5}$

From the last two ratios,

$\frac{y}{3} = \frac{1}{5}$ $o r, y = \frac{3}{5}$
