Given equations are,

x-y=5……(i)

2x-3y=4…….(ii)

Multiplying (i) by 3 and (ii) by 1 we get,

3x-3y=15

2x-3y=4

On subtracting these two equations we get,

3x-3y-2x+3y=15-4

Or, x=11.

Hence, Solving the equations x+y=5 and 2x-3y=4, the value of x is 11.
