An earthquake produces an infra-sound before the main shock wave. Infra-sound is a low-frequency sound. It is a sound that is lower in frequency than 20 Hz (hertz). Humans can't hear below 20Hz. Animals like Rhinos, Giraffes and elephants can hear in this infra-sound range.
