Forest is an area dominated by trees and vegetation. Various living organisms inhabit forest and survive on its resources, including humans. When these large number of trees of an area are cut for commercial purposes like setting up industries and raw materials for the same, or for agriculture, shifting cultivation, or for small scale use like firewood, amongst other reasons like construction, dam building, and road making, it leads to mass destruction of not only trees but also the wildlife, this is termed as deforestation.
