Some people gathered in Jallianwala Bagh on 13th April 1919 to celebrate Baisakhi.
On that day, the notorious Jallianwalla Bagh incident happened. A large crowd gathered in the Jallianwalla Bagh's enclosed space. Some gathered to protest the government's new repressive policies, while others came to celebrate Baisakhi. Many locals didn't know martial law had been enacted because they were from outside the city. After entering the area and closing off the exits, Dyer started shooting at the gathering, killing hundreds.
