SPA stands for Seven Party Alliance. The alliance of even political parties of Nepal had come together to fight the autocratic rule prevailing in the country and establish democracy there. The coalition included the Nepali Congress, Nepali Congress (Democratic), Communist Party of Nepal (Unified Marxist-Leninist), Nepal Workers and Peasants Party, Nepali Goodwill Party, United Left Front, and People’s Front. They comprised 199 out of the total 205 seats of the Nepali Legislative Elections in the year 1999 and also, and they were the most important in leading the ‘Loktantra Andolan’ in Nepal.
