Species which are no longer found on the earth are called Extinct species. According to the IUCN (International Union for Conservation of Nature and Natural Resources), the plants and animals which exist on the earth's surface and those had extinct are categorised as follows -
Extinct species: these are no longer found on the earth's surface. They were previously in existence but have now vanished from the earth. For example, Dinosaurs, Dodo birds, etc.
Normal species: these are commonly seen whose population is of considerable level.
Endangered species: they are in danger and can become extinct if not protected. The government is taking several steps to protect endangered species from getting extinct.
Vulnerable species: they are species between less than normal but more than to be included in endangered species.
Rare species: few of their kind the present on the earth and can move to vulnerable or endangered species very quickly
Endemic species: those species which are specific to a particular region.
