Detailed Solution

Sri Lanka is not a secular country because the Sri Lankan government favours the Buddhist religion and Sinhala speakers. The Tamilians are majorly discriminated against there. Secularism is defined as a person or a system that does not discriminate against others based on their religious beliefs. Because Buddhism is Sri Lanka's national religion, it does not respect all religions equally. As a result, it is not a secular state. In 1956, the Sri Lankan government approved legislation designating Sinhala as the country's sole official language. Preferential measures were also established by the government to favour Sinhala applicants for academic spots and government jobs. All of this was done to establish the Sinhala community's dominance.
