Detailed Solution

Sri Lankan Tamils launched parties and struggled for equality of opportunity in securing education and government jobs.
The Tamils of Sri Lanka started political parties and campaigns for recognition of Tamil as an official language, regional autonomy, and equitable access to education and employment. However, their persistent requests for greater autonomy for the Tamil-populated regions were turned down. Tamils in Sri Lanka believed that the government ignored their interests and that they were denied equal political rights and subjected to discrimination when applying for jobs and other opportunities. As a result, tensions developed between the Tamil and Sinhala communities.
