Detailed Solution

Given,
P and Q are points on the sides AB and AC respectively of a ΔABC, AP = 2 cm, PB = 4 cm, AQ = 3 cm and QC = 6 cm.
Question ImageThe ratio of the corresponding sides of the triangles are,
APPB=24
APPB=12…….(1)
AQQC=36
AQQC=12…..(2)
So, from equation (1) and (2),
AP PB = AQ QC
PQBC
Consider the triangles ΔAPQ   and ΔABC  .
APQ   and ABC   are corresponding angles.
APQ=ABC  .
AQP   and ACB   are corresponding angles.
AQP=ACB  .
Therefore, the triangles ΔAPQ   and ΔABC   are similar.
As the triangles are similar.
So, the corresponding sides will have the same ratio,
AP AB = PQ BC 2 6 = PQ BC 1 3 = PQ BC BC=3PQ
Therefore, the statement is true.
Hence, option 1 is correct.
