Detailed Solution

Newton's laws of motion are a set of fundamental principles that describe the behaviour of objects in motion. The three laws are:

  • Law of Inertia: An object at rest will remain at rest, and an object in motion will remain in motion with a constant velocity unless acted upon by an unbalanced force.
  • Law of Force and Acceleration: The acceleration of an object is directly proportional to the force applied to it and inversely proportional to its mass. The direction of the acceleration is in the direction of the force applied.
  • Law of Action and Reaction: For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction. This means that whenever an object exerts a force on another object, the second object exerts an equal and opposite force on the first object.

These laws are the basis of classical mechanics, and they are still widely used today to explain the motion of objects in our everyday lives.
