Detailed Solution

Law: Newton’s Third Law of Motion states that “For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction.”

Explanation:

When one object exerts a force on another, the second object exerts an equal force in the opposite direction on the first object. These forces act on different bodies but are equal in magnitude and opposite in direction.

Example:

  • When a person jumps off a boat, the person moves forward while the boat moves backward.

  • When air rushes out from the nozzle of a balloon, the balloon moves in the opposite direction.

  • This happens because the force of air coming out (action) pushes the balloon in the opposite direction (reaction).
