State the type of voice of the following sentence-The chef is cooking dinner for the guest.

 

Option1 is correct. In layman's language, we can say that voice determines the form that the verb takes in a sentence. It also adjudges the status of the subject and the object. Voice can be Active or Passive. In simple sentences, we can say that when the subject of a verb also acts as the verb, the verb is said to be in the active voice. If the active voice is in present continuous tense then the rule will be subject +is/am/are+ing form of  Verb + Object. Example - The chef is cooking dinner for the guest. Here, the subject is the chef for the guest, the verb is cooking and the object is dinner. Option 2 is incorrect because the rule of passive voice in present continuous tense is (Object + is/am/are+being past participle form of the Verb+Subject ).
