Given,
Area of square=

484 c m 2

We have to check if the area of the circle will be

615 cm 2

.
We know that,

Area of the square = (a) 2 ⇒ 484 = a 2 ⇒ a = 22 cm

Calculating the perimeter of the square,
Perimeter of the square,

= 4 × 22 = 88 cm

Note that the wire used to make the square is next used to make a circle.
So, length of the wire is

88 cm

and, the circumference of the circle is equal to the length of the wire.
Suppose the radius of the circle is r cm.

∴ 2 π r = 88 ⇒ 2 × 227 × r = 88 ⇒ r = 14

Calculating the area of the circle,
Area of the circle,

= 227 × 14 × 14 = 616 cm 2

Hence, a wire when bent in square form can enclose area 484 m2 and in the circle form it encloses
