Detailed Solution

The given statement is true.
Concept-  When an oxidising agent and a reducing agent react, if the reducing agent is present in excess, a compound of a lower oxidation state is produced, and if the oxidation state is present in excess, a compound of a higher oxidation state is produced.
Oxidizing agents are species that decrease themselves while oxidising other species. Species that decrease other species yet oxidise themselves are referred to as reducing agents.
Some reactions concerning the above are as follows-
(i) Oxidizing agent is Question Image and the reducing agent is Question Image. When excess Question Image reacts with Question Image, Question Image is produced in which Question Image has Question Image as an oxidation number.
Question ImageBut if fluorine is in excess, Question Image is formed, in which Question Image has an oxidation number of Question ImageQuestion Image(ii) When oxygen is the oxidising agent and the reducing agent is Question Image. When excess Question Image reacts with oxygen, Question Image is formed in which oxygen has an oxidation number of Question Image.
Question Image excess Question ImageBut if oxygen is in excess, then Question Image is formed, in which Question Image has an oxidation number of Question ImageQuestion Image(iii) Oxygen acts as an oxidising agent while C acts as a reducing agent. When an excess Question Image reacts with oxygen, Question Image is formed in which Question Image has Question Image oxidation number.
Question ImageWhen an excess of oxygen is used, Question Image is formed in which Question Image has Question Image oxidation number.
Question ImageHence, the correct answer is option 1.
