Detailed Solution

Given quadratic polynomial is,
x 2 +kx+k
We know that the roots of the quadratic equation a x 2 +bx+c=0   are equal if b 2 4ac=0  .
On comparing given polynomial with a x 2 +bx+c=0   we get,
a=1, b= and c=k
Then,
k 2 4 1 k =0 k k4 =0 k=0 or (k4)=0 k=0 or k=4
The possible value of k is 0 or 4 for the roots of the quadratic equation x 2 +kx+k=0   to be equal.
The quadratic polynomial x 2 +kx+k   cannot have equal zeroes for some odd integer k>1.
Therefore, the given statement is false.
Hence, option (2) is correct.
