Detailed Solution

The given statement is true.
Concept: The North pole and South pole of the bar magnet are its two poles. Earth serves as a natural magnet for a bar magnet that is suspended freely. The ions in the earth's core likewise spin when the planet does. Due to the passage of current caused by this in the core, the crustal magnetic field is produced. Magnetic poles are created as a result. The bar magnet's poles are drawn to and repelled by these natural magnet's magnetic poles.
Earth also contains a magnetic field, just like a bar magnet. This magnetic field is created as a result of the earth's core producing current. Different ions in the earth's core rotate as well with the result that current is generated in the core.
The creation of magnetic poles is caused by this magnetic field. The North magnetic pole and South magnetic pole are those poles. The North Pole and South Pole are the planet's two geographical poles. However, the magnetic and geographic poles are not the same. The distance between the geographical axis and the magnetic axis is 17.5 degrees.
The magnetic field of the earth runs from geographical south to geographical north.
As a result, the bar magnet's south pole points toward the north magnetic pole but south geographic pole, while its north pole points toward the south magnetic pole and north geographic pole.
Consequently, a bar magnet aligns itself in a North-South orientation when it is suspended freely in the air.
Hence,the given statement is true.
