The above statement is false.
The Rani of Jhansi Regiment was the Indian National Army's Women's Regiment, also known as the Azad Hind Fauj, led by Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose. The Indian National Army was an armed group founded in 1942 by Indian nationalists in Southeast Asia during World War II. The army's major goal was to achieve Indian independence from the British Empire's domination in India, with the help of Japanese forces. Captain Lakshmi Sahgal, commonly known as Lakshmi Swaminathan, headed the Rani of Jhansi Regiment. The regiment was formed in July 1943 by volunteers from South East Asia's emigrant Indian population.
