Detailed Solution

The above statement is true.
The civil disobedience movement was launched because Lord Irwin ignored the eleven demands of Mahatma Gandhi, which also included the abolition of the salt tax. The "salt march" marked the beginning of the Civil Disobedience Movement. This movement was being implemented in various parts of the country and united different groups in the country. In the countryside, the Patidars of Gujarat and the Jats of UP, also known as the upper-class peasant communities, became supporters of the civil disobedience movement. The poorer peasantry, often led by the socialists and the communists, joined a variety of radical activities for the revocation of their unpaid rent to the landlords. Purshottamdas Thakurdas and GD Birla led industrialists who supported the Civil Disobedience Movement. Also, railway workers, dock workers, mine workers from Chota Nagpur and a large number of women from all over India participated in the civil disobedience movement.
