Concept- Ionic compounds have two parts- a cation and an anion. For the formation of a neutral ionic compound, the charge carried by cation must be balanced by the charge of the anions.
The crisscross method is used to write the formula of an ionic compound. As per the crisscross method, the numerical value of each of the ionic charges crosses over to become the subscript of the other ion.
The given compound calcium nitride is an ionic compound in which the compound is formed by the exchange of ions/electrons between cation and anion. Cation is usually metal and anion is non-metal.
In this case, the cation is calcium metal which loses two electrons to form ion Ca2+ whereas the anion is the nitride whose formula is N3-.
Thus, following the criss-cross method, the subscript of Ca becomes 3 and the subscript of N becomes 2. Therefore, the formula becomes <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML"><msub><mi>Ca</mi><mn>3</mn></msub><msub><mi mathvariant="normal">N</mi><mn>2</mn></msub></math>. Thus, the statement is correct.
Hence, the correct answer is 1.
