The Rowlatt Act empowered the British government to arrest and imprison suspects without trial. Many revolutionaries were arrested and detained without any explanation under the Rowlatt Act. The Rowlatt act was also the reason for the biggest Jallianwala Bagh massacre because more than hundreds of people died due to the order og General Dyer to open fire. Hence, enraged by this event, Indians took to the streets resulting in strikes and clashes with the police.
