Detailed Solution

The given statement is True. Alluvial soils are found commonly in the piedmont plains because this is where the rivers deposit their load after entering the plains from the elevated grounds. Alluvial soil is the most common and essential type of soil. In reality, alluvial soil covers the whole northern plains. The alluvial soil was deposited by three major Himalayan river systems: the Indus, Ganga, and the Brahmaputra. These soils also spread along a corridor in Rajasthan and Gujarat.
The alluvial soil has different quantities of sand, silt, and clay. Soil particles become large as we go inland towards river valleys. Soils are coarse in the upper portions of the river valley, around the point of slope break. These soils are more widespread in piedmont plains like the Duars, Chos, and Terai.
