Detailed Solution

The above statement is true.
The Tropic of Cancer passing through the middle of India puts the continent into the tropical and subtropical zones. The northern parts of India have extremes of temperature and experience diurnal variations. South India experiences a moderately hot climate. The general climate of India is said to be the monsoon climate since the monsoons play a role in determining the climatic conditions of India. The northern parts above the Tropic of Cancer have a subtropical climate owing to their location. The southern peninsula, though close to the Equator, has a mild climate due to the moderating influence of the surrounding water bodies. The northern landlocked areas have no water bodies influencing their climate and thus have a subtropical climate. Thus it can be said that India has a subtropical and monsoon-type of climate.
